Celebrations began around 3:30 PM when people began to assemble around the Grassy Knoll dressed in costumes, bearing signs, and playing instruments.
“Beautiful day, beautiful people, here for a beautiful reason,” said Matthew Filipiak of Friends of the Farm (FotF). “I think [the Trek] sends a very clear message, once again, that [the Farm] is not something to mess around with.”
Shane Pointe of the Musqueam First Nation began the day’s events; he said that all of the supporters there today were all of “one heart, one mind.” Rex Weyler, founder of Greenpeace, and James McKinnon, co-author of The 100 Mile Diet, also gave addresses.
