Via a colleague’s email:
“The election has arrived — our chance to elect a government that takes climate change seriously. We want to introduce you to a new, grassroots strategic voting effort: http://www.voteforclimate.ca. If you support working together to elect a climate-friendly government, please spread the word to family, friends and colleagues in ridings across the country.”
At UBC Farm we are proud of the ways in which we contribute to climate-consciousness, as educators and as producers of locally consumed, low-footprint food. We know that many of our friends are equally concerned about climate change and looking to the upcoming federal election with questions about what its outcome will mean for climate policy. Enter Vote For Climate, an online resource for Canadian voters looking to make their votes count as much as possible this election. Vote For Climate is right on when it says that Stephen Harper’s government has completely lacked vision and initiative in the fight against climate change, and from what we’ve seen in the past 2 years, a conservative majority would be devastating for environmental initiatives.
Check out their website to see if your riding is a climate-friendly stronghold or needs your help to shift away from a Conservative candidate, whose election may help secure a majority for the party, allowing Harper to continue with his long-term plan of doing absolutely nothing.
