Way back in November, Friends of the Farm went on a photo walkabout with a member of the UBC Farm’s community-supported agriculture (CSA) program and a special farm visitor. Evidently, we didn’t get around to posting the images for quite a while. On the bright side, now you’ll get to remember some of the colours and smells of decomposing entities from the autumn!

Thanks  to everyone who shared their pumpkin carving panache at our final Saturday Farm Market of the year!  We were very impressed by all of the inventive Jack-o-lantern creations, particularly from the talented younger members of our community.

Some plants wait until the drizzly, overcast days of autumn when leaves turn to rich mush at their feet before they finally divulge the gorgeous pigments that they had been hiding all along.

Giving Thanks

Thank you sun and summer heat, that brought us sweet winter squash.

Thanks, colours of fall, intense beyond our senses, that prove nature’s supremacy in the realm of art.

Thank you grasses and flowers, crimson clover and vetch, that protect and enrich the soil.

Thank you kind hearted souls who have come to the farm and given a helping hand.

Thank you, bounty and abundance, as you manifest in the field. There is enough for people, birds, coyotes, and aphids too!

Thanks, fresh morning dew!!

Thank you winter, when you come, for a little rest you might provide.
